Together We Make a Difference!

      Judy Moon
2024-2025 President

In 1921, a group of women in Oakland, California, conceived a club for women whose purpose was to promote and advance the best for women: SOROPTIMIST.

On November 14, 1942, the Soroptimist International of Martinez club was chartered, bringing support and empowerment to generations of women and girls in Martinez and our surrounding areas. Our club members are proud to be continuing this 82-year legacy, and are thankful to all of you for your steadfast support!

Our Vision

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

Women and girls have the resources and  opportunities to reach their full potential  and live their dreams.

Gender Equality; Empowerment
Education; Diversity & Fellowship

We currently have 20 members and meet the second Monday of each month at the IBEW Local 302 Hall on Arnold Drive in Martinez. This year, we participated in the Alhambra High School Homecoming parade as "Fairy Godmothers", tabled at the Martinez Open Air Market, attended the District I/II Meeting, and inducted new members at our annual summer retreat!  Our Bingo Blast fundraiser in November was a huge success. The money raised will fund scholarship awards for local women and girls who will be recognized in the spring at our annual Awards Tea. Our year culminates at our Regional Conference in May when all the clubs join to celebrate and congratulate the various program awards recipients!
